Binge-Worthy TV Shows

To binge is a luxury for most mommas. We don’t often get to watch TV let alone watch two episodes consecutively. So when we do indulge, we can’t waste time on less than entertaining TV. These binge-worthy TV shows will have you planning your next binge session. So put the kids to bed early, watch on your next flight or whenever you can steal away for some me time.

Mrs. Maisel struts into the 60’s showcasing style, music, and cultural nuances. Season 3 continues the stories and character development with all the laughs ups and downs that are a part of life. Enjoy this fast pace and sightly- chaotic season as our characters old and new pop in and out with timely comic effect.

What dazzles this season, however, are its musical sequences that somehow work within the context of each of the show’s scenes. The playful vibrancy, colorful banter, and gorgeous costumes kept me enthralled. One of my favorite scenes is Midge and other ladies ascending/descending a staircase to nowhere. Why? Well, to show off their attire, duh. Not that far off from today’s insta created popups all about getting that perfect pic.

By the end of this season, you will be ready for what’s next. Lucky us, it has been picked up for season 4.

Bingworthy Nailed it Holiday

-Netflix

Were you one of those people who watched American Idol to laugh at the folks who thought they could sing? Well, ya mean, so come sit next to me. In the meantime, let's try to teach our children to do better. Instead of laughing at folks, watch Nailed It and laugh along with the people. Watch amateur bakers compete to be the best of the worst. Like the contestant who nonchalantly ate most of his ingredients. You could also laugh along with the judges as the plethora of contestants erroneously make puddings instead of cakes. LMAO as I type this review. Anyway, watch for the sheer joy of it, and perhaps you will get some tips from Chef/host Jacques Torres. Or if you are like me, look forward to co-host Nicole Byer's comments/face when she witnesses the kitchen calamities du jour.

Derry Girls-Maven Momma Must Watch List
- NetFlix

Watching 5 high-schoolers navigate life-set against the political strife of 1990's Northern Ireland does not sound like a very funny premise. However, creator Lisa McGee does manage to make it hilariously relatable, and entirely binge-worthy. Watch Derry Girls for a wee bit of witty girls fun when your momma brain is fried. Oh, and watch out for Ma Mary, she is mom goals!

The anti-hero is redeemed, well sort of. Comic actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge stars as Fleabag, a viciously witty mess of a human. In the first season Fleabag orchestrates one train wreck after another. I tuned into the second season to see if redemption was on the altar. This genius two season series is binge-worthy not only to watch the spectacularly brilliant train wrecks, but to watch humanity on display in its most awful, hilarious, and entertaining form.

MavenMomma Binge-Worthy Pose

Set amidst the 1980s, ballroom culture `POSE' serves fierceness in the form of binge-worthy TV. The main character, Blanca, breaks away from her house mother, Elektra, and forms the house of Evangelista. I love watching the competitive balls -- where house members challenge each other in various categories; outfits, attitude, and dance skills. However, POSE is about more than the competitions. It's also about love, community, the family "we choose" The competing houses come together to navigate the social hierarchy of NYC from Wall Street to the Bronx. POSE is inspired by the documentary; Paris is Burning. If you have never seen it, go watch it and if you have seen, go watch again-on Netflix. Pose crystalizes Paris is Burning. Now, watching POSE I am entertained and visiting into the lives of real-life heroes and heroines.

I heard that Russian Doll was like a dark groundhog day, but it is so much more. To sum up Russian Doll, the main character, Nadia, played by Natasha Lyonne, lives and dies each day- her 36th birthday to be exact. She does, however, get to extend her life if she learns and fixes shit as she lives. What makes this show so binge-worthy? Watching Nadia navigate her imminent deaths as she deals with life and the lives intertwined with her own is only a part of the show. I guess it is what we all do, only Nadia and supporting cast keep it mad entertaining each of the eight episodes.

Gather the kids for some food and magic. Amazon Prime's Just Add Magic, based on Cindy Callaghan's book, follows three friends who find a magic cookbook and begin cooking their way through adventures. I love watching with my babies. It is a show that is worthy of binging together, and you know what they say, the family that binges together... Not a saying? Well, now it is.
